The live PSI booking flow showed a $38 Life exam fee when this page was verified on August 5, 2026. Resident fingerprinting is $66.05 and the initial online producer application is $170. Those fixed amounts total $274.05 before the required course and any NIPR transaction fee.
A NJDOBI licensing FAQ still displays a $47 exam fee. Because the state page and live booking flow conflict, confirm the amount in PSI before scheduling. This guide uses the current live booking amount and preserves the discrepancy rather than hiding it.

New Jersey Life exam: scored and experimental items
PSI's current New Jersey Life outline lists 83 scored items. PSI may also present 5 to 19 experimental questions that do not affect the candidate's score, so the total number shown on an appointment can vary.
The appointment is 210 minutes and the passing standard is 70%. A passing result remains valid for 12 months.
After a failed attempt, a candidate cannot schedule another exam on the same day. Contact PSI the following day and pay the current exam fee to book the next available appointment.
